Digital experience paths – UX, UI and prototyping of a web app for the Frauenkirche Dresden

Detailed objects, stunning rooms, and captivating stories—Frauenkirche Dresden offers everything for an exciting visit. Unfortunately, much of the content cannot be fully conveyed, and interesting details can only be appreciated from a distance, leaving some stories untold. The "experience paths" address this issue. They narratively connect the objects, rooms, and stories of Frauenkirche, providing visitors with new perspectives. As an easily accessible web app, these paths enhance the church visit and make the allure of Frauenkirche tangible in a fresh way.
Process
The "experience paths" guide visitors through the Frauenkirche, allowing them to explore the history of its objects and rooms in greater depth. Targeted questions engage them at the end of their physical journey, marking the beginning of their digital exploration of the Frauenkirche. Snippets of rooms and objects serve as orientation points along this digital route, linking the online experience with the on-site offerings. This provides visitors with an additional layer of content to enhance their visit to the Frauenkirche, even from afar.
The user interface is based on the existing corporate design, utilizing typography, color, and shape. The primary colors, inspired by the bright interior of the Frauenkirche and its gold accents, are complemented by fresh pastel tones. These colors brighten the web app and guide users through the various thematic focuses within the experience paths. Specially developed iconography reflects the rooms on site, bridging the digital and physical spaces and helping users navigate more easily.
